Govan Brown has partnered with Alberta Health Services on many occasions, and for this project occurring in Airdrie, Alberta, we also had the privilege of once again working with ACI Architects. For this project, our team was tasked with renovating the existing AHS offices into Airdrie’s new Mental Health Centre. The full renovation of the property included replacing existing door frames, installing new doors and installing a brand new security system. Finishes were also a priority and all new paint, flooring and fixtures were applied to give the space a more acquiescent aesthetic. Most important in the renovation however, was the reorganization of available space into new patient rooms. Full-height walls were built-in, and for the sake of patient confidentiality, the doors for the units were fitted with brand new, noise reducing sweeps and seals. Our team’s successful partnership with both Alberta Health Services and ACI Architects is what made this project possible and allowed us to complete the space in less than three months.
