In 2011, Altera retained Govan Brown to complete an unoccupied renovation of 2 floors on 150 Bloor Street West in Toronto. The space was comprised of 51,000 square feet and occupied the 4th and 6th floors of the building. To accommodate an office of this caliber, extensive mechanical and electrical upgrades and several office-specific amenities were included in the project scope. An office space of this size and capacity required the fabrication and installation of many project elements. Included in the scope were workstations, private offices, meeting and boardrooms, training rooms, a kitchen, lounge and cafeteria. Washrooms and showers, which themselves required a large amount of focus as all new plumbing lines had to be installed were also factored into the space. The installation of the computer room, server room and data centre were challenging as it was imperative that the technology-related rooms be of the highest standards given our clients’ industry. Our team supplied and installed a new air conditioning system, compete with indoor wall, evaporator fan and three outdoor roof-mounted condenser units. These were used to facilitate the installation of the new computer room infrastructure as well as cooling for the frequently over-heated tech-related appliances. Much of the project’s sucess can be attributed to the quality of our team, our transparency with the client as well as our knowledge of the building and area.
