DOWNLOAD CASE STUDY
The Desjardins Group is the largest cooperative financial group in Canada and 9th in size in the world. They offer a wide range of financial products and services to their 5.8 million members and clients and manages global assets of 160 billion dollars. In 2008, Govan Brown was awarded the task of relocating their offices to the Telus Centre located at 15 York St. in Toronto.
The scope of work included a reception area, open offices and work stations, private offices, meeting rooms, boardrooms, training rooms, a staff kitchen and cafeteria, staff lounge, washrooms, showers, a computer and IT server room and a trading floor. Some of the design elements included, high-end millwork, glazing, glass office fronts provided by Teknion, upgraded ceilings (which included drywall and wooden ceilings in the meeting rooms), upgraded high-end fixtures in all the lobbies and meeting rooms, and an LCD screen on the trading floor. Notable construction elements included HVAC systems and separate cooling units for the LAN rooms, a UPS system for selected areas and auxiliary showers in the washrooms.
Despite the tight project schedule and long lead items (light fixtures and computer room cooling equipment), Govan Brown completed the renovation on schedule and the client was ready for move-in, in March, 2011.
